A short history

  1. Lucbuan has a long separate history. A fort was begun there in the Spanish period but never finished, and in 1899 Don Casiano Padon declared a short-lived Republic of Lucbuan, unwilling to be ruled by representatives of Aguinaldo's government.

  2. Twelve barrios, including Lucbuan, were separated from Cuyo on 18 June 1961 to form the new municipality.
